What's So Hot About the UK?

One day I woke up, and the teen fashion scene of the United States was suddenly completely wrapped up in the newest trend: the U.K.
*Note that the Union Jack tees are aimed primarily at girls between the ages of 12-17...

Not to say that I don't like the U.K. (I have plenty of English style icons), but...why now? Here are three possible reasons.

1. One Direction.

Ever heard of 'em? Telling girls around the world (well, mainly American ones) that they are beautiful, and that they light up these English boys' lives (like nobody else, too. Golly gee!). What girl having a bad hair day doesn't want to hear how lovely and special she is to some cute boy with an accent? The added plus to boy bands: a girl is free to pick and choose which one of the brown-haired beauties (and that one blonde...awkward) is singing to her and her alone.  The American boy bands are slacking, and the English ones are picking up the reins.
In addition, it appears that the US music scene is experiencing a HUGE wave of UK artists right now( Cher Lloyd, Jessie J, Olly Murs, Simon Cowell...)

2. Kate Middleton.

I've been dreaming about marrying Prince Harry since I was four, and Kate Middleton got the next best thing. Of course I'd want to align myself with the English beauty who has what it takes to land a royal hottie with a body...in exquisite style, no less. I would make myself an English citizen at any cost just to have her as my Duchess.

3. The Olympics.

It's being held in London this year, so naturally teenage girls have to pretend to love the heck out of Union Jack for the rest of the summer so Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte can win us some more gold medals, mmkay?
...Yeah, that's probably not the case.

(UK shopping sites like Boohoo and PrettyLittleThing are totally deserving of all my love, though. And the Cambridge Satchel Company.)
